The Report of the Third Synchronisation Force workshop is now available

The 2024 Synchronisation Force workshop featured eight online sessions held between 3 September and 7 November 2024. Six core sessions focused on key topics, including Metrics and FAIRness assessment, Sustainability of project outputs, Persistent identifiers, Legal and organisational interoperability, Trustworthy and FAIR-enabling repositories, and Metadata, semantics, and interoperability. Approximately 91 participants from various EOSC and FAIR initiatives registered for the series, with attendance per session ranging from 15 to 35 individuals.

This report compiles the key highlights and recommendations from the workshop. The 2024 series marked the third and final Synchronisation Force workshop under FAIR-IMPACT. Successfully completed as planned, it gathered diverse participants from EOSC and FAIR initiatives. The insights provided will help stakeholders gain a comprehensive understanding of the current FAIR development landscape. The compiled information is also available on the project website and shared via Zenodo.

Recommendations from this report, along with those from 2022 and 2023, will contribute to a White Paper set for release by March 2025. Additionally, the Synchronisation Force mechanism will be integrated into the FAIR-IMPACT sustainability plan, aiming for continued adoption and maintenance by other EOSC-related projects or the EOSC Association after the project concludes.
