The FAIR-EASE Open Day is dedicated to advancing Open Science for Earth Systems by demonstrating how FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles are being implemented to build a federated ecosystem that fosters enhanced collaboration and data-sharing across scientific domains such as volcanoes, soil, water, and biodiversity.
The morning session will bring together policymakers, scientists, and private sector representatives to raise awareness, strengthen cooperation, and identify synergies between national initiatives and the wider European research landscape. This interactive event will not only highlight ongoing efforts to promote Open Science but also outline strategies to enhance engagement, training, and collaboration among all stakeholders.

From FAIRness to Federation—Consolidating Open Science Practices in the European Research Landscape
The third annual meeting of the European INFRAEOSC FAIR-EASE project will be held on October 10 in Naples, Italy, featuring a presentation by Sara Pittonet Gaiarin, a representative of FAIR-IMPACT and Trust-IT Services, on the theme “From FAIRness to Federation: Sample Efforts to Consolidate Open Science Practices in the European Research Landscape.”
Her presentation will showcase the advancements of the sister projects, FAIR-IMPACT and FAIRCORE4EOSC, demonstrating how a federated research approach can enhance data sharing and collaboration. The session will serve as a platform for stakeholders to address challenges, share best practices, and promote a more inclusive Open Science environment while exploring opportunities to align European and national initiatives towards shared goals, particularly in Earth system research.
