FAIR-IMPACT is pleased to announce the co-located workshop at the 23rd RDA Plenary Meeting in Costa Rica, titled "Interoperability Frameworks in a Global Perspective," scheduled for 11th November 2024.

The Research Data Alliance's 23rd Plenary Meeting has announced its 23rd Plenary Meeting, themed “Sustainable Science,” which is set to take place in San José, Costa Rica, and online from November 12-14, 2024. The event will be hosted by the Consejo Nacional de Rectores (CONARE) and several prominent Costa Rican universities. This three-day hybrid gathering will bring together global leaders to address critical data challenges, share innovative ideas, and explore best practices in data utilisation.

FAIR-IMPACT Co-located Workshop at the RDA Plenary in Costa Rica

In conjunction with the plenary meeting, the RDA is pleased to introduce the FAIR-IMPACT Co-located Workshop, titled "Interoperability Frameworks in a Global Perspective," which is scheduled for 11th November 2024.

This workshop is by invitation only and is designed for individuals actively engaged in developing or implementing interoperability frameworks or research commons. For a definition of “the commons,” please refer to this resource (“A global trusted ecosystem that provides seamless access to high-quality interoperable research outputs and services”).

Workshop Scope

The FAIR-IMPACT Workshop aims to facilitate in-depth discussions on Interoperability in a Global Context. By bringing together experts in research commons, data commons, and science clouds, the workshop will examine interoperability within the framework of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) as well as other global models, projects, and infrastructures. Participants will engage in presentations and open discussions, reflecting on the challenges and solutions encountered in developing and enhancing data commons and clouds.

The agenda for the workshop includes a round of introductions, followed by lightning talks presented by participants, and concluding with an open guided discussion. The workshop will particularly focus on several key questions, including which interoperability frameworks participants have adopted or considered when developing research commons, how these interoperability frameworks are implemented, and what key interoperability-related challenges they have encountered.
