From June 3rd to 6th 2024, the 19th International Conference on Open Repositories was held in Göteborg, Sweden. With 420 attendees and a programme consisting of 11 workshops, 32 posters, and 130 presentations, lightning talks and panel discussions, it was a packed schedule full of opportunities to exchange ideas, discuss challenges and developments, and connect to others. FAIR-IMPACT was present at the conference, presenting our poster “Exposing repository information to foster connections and trust: evaluating and implementing guidelines”1.
by Maaike Verburg, DANS-KNAW
The poster presented the guidelines that have been developed for the transparent exposure of repository information, with specific focus on information regarding trustworthiness and FAIR assessment. The initial developments towards the prototype implementing these guidelines was also included. After a minute madness presentation of the work, the poster session allowed attendees to walk through the room and engage in conversation about the wide variety of posters and vote for their favourite. This allowed more people representing repositories and other relevant stakeholders to become familiar with the work done in FAIR-IMPACT and learn about ways they can contribute.
Attendees could also find information on the poster regarding the Open Calls for support run by FAIR-IMPACT, with specific emphasis on the expert support programme for Repositories and Data Service Providers (the submission deadline was June 14). This support programme allows Repositories and Data Service Providers to create their individually tailored FAIR Implementation Action Plan and set their own goals to become more FAIR-enabling, supported by mentors and a range of expert advice and suggested resources.
"Open Repositories was a fruitful source of information and connection, with experts sharing their latest and greatest developments and experiences. From repository collaboration efforts to challenges in repository software, discoverability, and certification, no topic was left undiscussed. We were happy to join the conference and share one of our current developments, and have hopefully been able to inform and inspire some of the attendees to engage with our outputs and support actions."
